Project Liminal
A Choose Your Own Adventure Film
A branching-narrative film in the vein of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Project Liminal puts the viewer in control of the story, making choices that determine the fate of the protagonist.
The film follows Ezra, a gender-neutral character who unknowingly finds themselves at an organization that steals people’s memories. As the truth unravels, Ezra’s fate is entirely in the audience’s hands—will they escape, betray, be betrayed, remember, or forget? Every choice leads to a different outcome: in some endings, Ezra dies, in others, they uncover the conspiracy, but at a cost. The story unfolds through a web of moral dilemmas and shifting allegiances.
As part of the conceptual and early writing team, my contributions included:
Branching Narrative Design: Helped determine key story branches, how choices influenced different endings, and how many branches to define.
Early Writing & Story Development: Co-wrote early drafts, proposing narratives, shaping character arcs and establishing the interactive structure.
Interactive Mechanics & Player Agency: Designed how decisions meaningfully impacted Ezra’s journey, ensuring a dynamic and immersive experience.
By blending cinematic storytelling with true audience control, Project Liminal explored identity, agency, and the consequences of memory—all shaped by the viewer’s choices. The team I contributed to went on to create the following sizzle reel for the project.
